Equal Pay Policy of Vörumiðlun ehf.

Vörumiðlun puts its ambition into ensuring equal pay to all employees and the same terms for the same or equally valuable jobs, so that a pay gap will not exist.  The scope of the equal pay policy applies to all employees.

The aim of Vörumiðlun is to be a sought-after workplace where women and men have equal opportunities in their jobs.

Vörumiðlun has in this context implemented a procedure and defined criteria for the decision of salaries.  Salaries take into consideration the input of the jobs, workload, competence, and progress of employees. The criteria for salary decisions are that they are in accordance with the collective agreements, supported with arguments, and ensured that the same salaries are being paid for comparable or equally valuable jobs. Vörumiðlun commits itself to enforce the equal pay policy in all respects.

An agreement has been made with the certifiers to make an annual assessment of the equal pay policy and equal pay system of Kaupfélag Skagfirðinga and its subsidiaries. In case a certifier, at any point, makes comments regarding the salary composition of any jobs, the composition will be reviewed as a result of tips and then corrected.

Vörumiðlun has documented, implemented, and promised to maintain and constantly improve the management of equal pay system, in accordance with requirements of ÍST85:2012 standard.

On the basis of a new legal framework Vörumiðlun will:

  • Implement certified equal pay system that is based on the equal pay standard ÍST 85; it will be documented and maintained.
  • Carry out a salary analysis at least once a year where equally valuable jobs will be compared and checked whether a difference in salaries according to gender exists and main results introduced to employees.
  • React to unexplained pay gap with constant reform and supervision.
  • Make an internal audit and hold management reviews annually.
  • Follow adequate laws, rules, and collective agreements that apply at each time according to law No. 150/2020 and regulation No. 1030/2017.
  • Introduce the policy annually to the employees of Vörumiðlun.
  • Publish the policy on the website of Vörumiðlun.
